In the last quarter of the year I have performed some exciting concerts including a song recital The Age of Innocence for the London Festival The Song in the City on 5th of February with the outstanding soprano Anita Watson. We have performed Rachmaninoff’s Song Cycle Opus 38, selection of songs by Strauss, Seven Songs on Slovak Folk Poetry by Pavel Haas
and selection of songs by Charles Ives. We are looking forward to perform some of this exciting repertoire again in August at the Stogumber Festival. ( See the Future Concerts page ).
On the 6th of March I have performed with two Royal Opera House Jette Parker Young Artists, Dusica Bijelic and Ashley Riches at the Recital Room at the Blackheath Halls. Our programme included Mussorgsky’s Songs and Dances of Death, songs by Benjamin Britten, Sergey Rachmaninoff and Piotr Tchaikovsky.
Earlier in the year, on the 26th and 27th of January I have had the pleasure to perform with wonderful tenor Arwel Treharne Morgan in the Villa La Timonerie on the Cap d’Antibes. We performed selection of italian songs by Paolo Tosti and Reynaldo Hahn, as well as arias by Glück and Handel. Our audiences were highly enthusiastic about the combination of our performances of high art songs and of the Welsh and Slavic humour we added to our introductions throughout the evenings.
My main focus in the next few months will be on preparation for the recording of my next solo CD for Avie Records, which will take place in Prague in the middle of July. I will soon be bringing more news about this project.
